Theatre

Over the past 10 days I have been getting back to my theatre roots and I directed a scene from the play Woyzeck for my university course at UNE in Armidale.. Here's a little vine of me arriving in Armidale,

I wasn't able to take a lot of photos as we were all pretty much working under intensive conditions in the theatre.. It was an eventful 10 days to say the least!!!  I learnt a lot about directing for the theatre and hopefully in the not too distant future I'll be able to put those skills again to practice.

These pics aren't from the course, however I did draw from my miming skills that I learnt whilst working on my last theatre performance in Oct 2014 at King Street Theatre called 'Lost in LA - LIVE' - This is me playing Marcel De'pardieu, a French Mime Artist

Thanks for reading my blog!!! Next post I have some more news about Lost in LA! :)

LOST IN LA

I was just reminiscing back to Jan this year when I was in LA shooting episodes.. Wow time has flown already!! So much has happened since then, 3 more episodes were published, Lost in LA got into LA Web fest then was nominated for 2 awards and then a big surprise happened .. it won the Grand Jury Melbourne Web fest award which means LOST IN LA's going to Melbourne to be screened at the festival in July! Also, it got an official selection into the Koren Web series Festival.. So here's onwards and upwards .. This pic is from Jan after shooting in Santa Monica

Oh and here's another thing to take away for inspiration that I think is the best..

Martial arts inspiration

For those of you who are new to my blog, I am really interested and inspired by Bruce Lee especially by his philosophies, his 'be like water' philosophy would have to be my favourite. However, there are other quotes of his and I think he is wonderful to look up to for inspiration - he is one of the best philosophers in my opinion:

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them - Bruce Lee

It's important to always stretch our mind's way of thinking about our own capacities and limitations. I got into martial arts when I was a kid because I knew really early on that wanted to be an actor and I thought it would be a great way to become more aware of my own physicality - balance, co-ordination, my own biomechanics. Now, I don't just enjoy martial arts for the self defence and physical side of it, I really enjoy the spiritual side of it. too

Here's a pic from my training this week

LOST IN LA - SEASON 3 EPISODE 9 - MR. BEAR & MR. DUCK

Hey guys! I am proud to announce the return of another LOST IN LA episode.. Wow almost at the end of series 3.. it's incredible .. This weekend LOST IN LA season's 2 and 3 are screening at the LA WEB FEST in Hollywood.. I am thrilled about it. We are also nominated for two awards, Outstanding Writing in a Comedy and Outstanding Leading Actress in a Comedy - it feels so wonderful to be in such an amazing festival. So this episode includes the return of Mr. Bear.. (If you haven't seen the first episode introducing Mr. Bear I have added it in this blog post beneath this text). Mr. Bear and Mr. Duck was such an interesting episode for me to direct because I was in a towel for most of it with no clothes underneath..  and I was essentially dripping from the shower!!mBut lucky for me I am working with two awesome professionals and directing wasn't as hard as what I thought it was going to be, (shout out to camera man Cheol-Woo Park and actor Jared Van Doorn for dealing with my towel mishaps). The ending is a little different to how I normally edit, it's one longer take because it was essentially an improvisation, however, I thought it added something to the episode especially when we don't expect Jeffrey to come back and say those random things - it still keeps the element of surprise. I hope you enjoy it! and please feel free to ask me any questions.

Tuesday

Hey guys! Welcome back.. So it's a Tuesday night in Sydney and I thought I'd catch you up with some new things.. I'm doing the final touches on the next episode 'Mr. Bear and Mr. Duck' .. Ahh.. You'll just have to watch for the explanation of that title haha! We shot it a while ago so it's kind of weird for me to go back and finish editing, but it's all working out better than expected.. Actually, this episode was in my first LIVE one woman play at the King Street Theatre last year.. I will try to get some clips of that also up soon too .. I have just been crazy busy.. So look out for this new episode 'Mr Bear and Mr. Duck.'

I got one of these rad t-shirts this week - it's a new label called 'Filthy Look Apparel' - just love the colour and the fabric of the t-shirt feels lush! I don't usually post about much I'm wearing but I find this very brand very appealing - the vibe of beach, bondi, chillin, hangin out, surf - vintage! They sell them online @ http://www.filthylook.com fast shipping and awesome quality :) Go check em out and here they are on fb @ https://www.facebook.com/filthylook

KOREAN WEB FEST!!!

Lost in LA has just been officially selected for the Korean Web Series Festival screening in July! It is such an honour to have my web series travelling the world and seeing new countries. Congratulations to all the cast and crew who work on the show :)

SYDNEY MORNING HERALD REVIEW THIS WEEK!

Ok... Well this would have to be one of the most exciting reviews for Lost in LA all year!! The Sydney Morning Herald is a massive publication in Australia and Lost in LA got reviewed in 'The Guide' section where all the latest stuff on TV/film/streaming gets coverage.. I'm really happy about the write-up, I think the critic Brad Newsome wrote about it superbly - I was amazed how he could sum up the show in such a poignant way and still tell people what they needed to know about it. Thrilled to have my first review in such a big Aussie newspaper #proud
