I guess we’re all two people. One daylight, and the one we keep in shadow. — Bruce Wayne/Batman, Batman Forever

Hey Guys! Happy Halloween! I got this Skeleton costume and I decided to make a dance vid.. It was rather spontaneous.. Although I have been inspired during the year by a philosopher named Carl Jung and when I got this costume I thought I could integrate some ideas with this year's Halloween theme. Carl Jung had a really cool theory about the 'shadow self' - he said that "Everyone carries a shadow," "and the less it is embodied in the individual's conscious life, the blacker and denser it is" (Jung). When I started researching it, I became fascinated with the idea of the shadow and one's darkness wanting to creep its way out. So this video plays with the idea of the Shadow Self haunting the conscious self - and how the shadow self wishes to fight its way back into the light.. Meaning, that the darker elements about our personality are not meant to be surpressed/judged rather they wish to be surfaced in creative forms which can help us be more whole. That is just a small recap of the theory, here are a couple of links if you'd like to do further reading: Jung's Shadow , Carl Jung on the ShadowSo, I hope you enjoy my Halloween tribute this year and hopefully I'll see you around on social media, feel free to leave me a comment, I'm also on InstagramTwitterYoutube and Facebook. Thank you for watching!!!!

LOST IN LA SEASON 1 & 2 New Trailer!

Hey guys! Welcome back! Gosh.. I've just been so busy with perparations for the Melbourne Web Fest and have been working really hard on getting votes for the People's Choice Award! Thanks so much to those who voted, hopefully in the next few days we can keep rallying for more votes, be sure to tell your friends about the poll - vote for Lost in LA under comedy.
Now here's Some other stuff I have been working on - while getting all the promo material together for Indieflix, I realised I couldn't give them a kick ass trailer to promote series 1 & 2 with - so the last couple days I have been working on that and here it is! Again, it was so difficult to make decisions on what to put in in such a small amount of time. But despite the challenge I'm really happy with my efforts and how the trailer turned out. I hope you have a sec to check it out! Leave me any comments below - Sascha.

BRINGING BACK NORMA JEAN

Hey guys! Welcome back to my blog. I'm soooooo excited to be sharing the next episode of Lost in LA with you.. It did take me some time to edit it all together,, and I am quite the perfectionist..!! I am never happy.. Ha ha.. A trait sometimes that can get in the way.. So I told myself I just have to release it!! So today is the day! I hope you enjoy it :) .. My inspiration behind writing this epsiode: Marilyn Monroe has always been such an important figure in my life.. I find her quite fascinating.. She was a woman and an actress in the 1950's who shocked the world with her sexuality because she was so comfortable with it. This might not be such a big deal now... but the 1950's was really 'conservative America' so her drive, ambition and integrity to be herself has always inspired me. Also, I love a good seance!!! Katie Oliver and Kirstie Munoz are two really good friends of mine in real life and they are sooooo funny and down to earth which is very rare in Hollywoodland! They are so talented and responded to the material like a duck to water - they brought their own interpretations and added ideas and they put together this AMAZING set which I don't think could have been done better by any set designer.. So shout at to them for this :) Also, fun fact: we shot this all on a tripod with no camera man! I wouldn't recommend doing this, however due to availability panning out we had no choice.. I still think it turned out great. I love the witch theme in this episode and the comedy/wit that Marilyn brings to the sexual questions.. I thought it was really on point and hopefully if Marilyn was around that day she would have given us a wink!! Thanks for reading my blog and I appreciate all your support.

My first 'Mime' video

Hey guys! Welcome back :) Things have been a little busy lately, I was hoping to get this video out a week ago but a few things came up. Lost in LA's wanted in Korea!! So I have been doing the transcripts for the Korean Web Series Festival and working really hard on the festivals. Anyway.... about this video! It was so much fun making a silent little movie..!!! I had so much material and had to decide on cutting it down so it was tricky but I'm happy with the outcome. It was a very instinctive piece, I mainly relied on my intuition so it was very liberating and of course Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton inspired me along with some lesser known names in the theatre such as the director Vsevolod Myerhold and his way of using forms like Kathakali, miming, slapstick and clowning. I really hope you enjoy it and feel free to ask me anything!

POPPING

Hi Ya'll! Welcome back.
I have had to leave alone editing on the last episode of Lost in LA for a minute - sometimes you need to do that in editing in order to come back to it fresh so that's why there's  a slight delay before the final touches are finished.
In other news, I was so inspired by my theatre adventures recently at Armidale that I decided to infuse my miming/theatre skills with my dance/popping movements and create a video to music. I added in there some favourite songs of mine, including 'Polyester Girl' by Regurgiator, 'Around the World' by Daft Punk and the 'Robot Dance 2' (remix on youtube). I have been looking to my master Charlie Chaplin for inspiration and Buster Keaton among some other silent movie era gems. I hope you have been enjoying your week so far, many blessings to you all and I hope you enjoy my popping video!

Theatre

Over the past 10 days I have been getting back to my theatre roots and I directed a scene from the play Woyzeck for my university course at UNE in Armidale.. Here's a little vine of me arriving in Armidale,

I wasn't able to take a lot of photos as we were all pretty much working under intensive conditions in the theatre.. It was an eventful 10 days to say the least!!!  I learnt a lot about directing for the theatre and hopefully in the not too distant future I'll be able to put those skills again to practice.

These pics aren't from the course, however I did draw from my miming skills that I learnt whilst working on my last theatre performance in Oct 2014 at King Street Theatre called 'Lost in LA - LIVE' - This is me playing Marcel De'pardieu, a French Mime Artist

Miming @ King Street Theatre

Thanks for reading my blog!!! Next post I have some more news about Lost in LA! :)

LOST IN LA

I was just reminiscing back to Jan this year when I was in LA shooting episodes.. Wow time has flown already!! So much has happened since then, 3 more episodes were published, Lost in LA got into LA Web fest then was nominated for 2 awards and then a big surprise happened .. it won the Grand Jury Melbourne Web fest award which means LOST IN LA's going to Melbourne to be screened at the festival in July! Also, it got an official selection into the Koren Web series Festival.. So here's onwards and upwards .. This pic is from Jan after shooting in Santa Monica

Oh and here's another thing to take away for inspiration that I think is the best..

Martial arts inspiration

For those of you who are new to my blog, I am really interested and inspired by Bruce Lee especially by his philosophies, his 'be like water' philosophy would have to be my favourite. However, there are other quotes of his and I think he is wonderful to look up to for inspiration - he is one of the best philosophers in my opinion:

If you always put limit on everything you do, physical or anything else. It will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them - Bruce Lee

It's important to always stretch our mind's way of thinking about our own capacities and limitations. I got into martial arts when I was a kid because I knew really early on that wanted to be an actor and I thought it would be a great way to become more aware of my own physicality - balance, co-ordination, my own biomechanics. Now, I don't just enjoy martial arts for the self defence and physical side of it, I really enjoy the spiritual side of it. too

Here's a pic from my training this week

LOST IN LA - SEASON 3 EPISODE 9 - MR. BEAR & MR. DUCK

Hey guys! I am proud to announce the return of another LOST IN LA episode.. Wow almost at the end of series 3.. it's incredible .. This weekend LOST IN LA season's 2 and 3 are screening at the LA WEB FEST in Hollywood.. I am thrilled about it. We are also nominated for two awards, Outstanding Writing in a Comedy and Outstanding Leading Actress in a Comedy - it feels so wonderful to be in such an amazing festival. So this episode includes the return of Mr. Bear.. (If you haven't seen the first episode introducing Mr. Bear I have added it in this blog post beneath this text). Mr. Bear and Mr. Duck was such an interesting episode for me to direct because I was in a towel for most of it with no clothes underneath..  and I was essentially dripping from the shower!!mBut lucky for me I am working with two awesome professionals and directing wasn't as hard as what I thought it was going to be, (shout out to camera man Cheol-Woo Park and actor Jared Van Doorn for dealing with my towel mishaps). The ending is a little different to how I normally edit, it's one longer take because it was essentially an improvisation, however, I thought it added something to the episode especially when we don't expect Jeffrey to come back and say those random things - it still keeps the element of surprise. I hope you enjoy it! and please feel free to ask me any questions.

Hey guys! Welcome back.. So it's a Tuesday night in Sydney and I thought I'd catch you up with some new things.. I'm doing the final touches on the next episode 'Mr. Bear and Mr. Duck' .. Ahh.. You'll just have to watch for the explanation of that title haha! We shot it a while ago so it's kind of weird for me to go back and finish editing, but it's all working out better than expected.. Actually, this episode was in my first LIVE one woman play at the King Street Theatre last year.. I will try to get some clips of that also up soon too .. I have just been crazy busy.. So look out for this new episode 'Mr Bear and Mr. Duck.'
